After deciding on my idea, i am going to start off with some desk styled research. With my idea being on a more sociable and data based golfing app, i am going to initially look into why so many people play golf and aswell as what the reason is behind so many people using the health data tracking app Strava.
I started by making a Miro board and listing down some of the reasons as to why golf is such a popular sport aswell as the reasons as to whys everyone uses strava.

Similarities
I done the last bit so that i would able to quickly identify any similarities between the two of them. Through that i managed to find quite a few,
- Both golf and strava somewhat push the user/player to strive for their own personal achievements, whether that is a shooting below par or setting a new timed PB in running or walking.
- They both have major aspects of competitiveness, you can find this in golf when playing tournaments and for example in strava when you are trying to beat someones time who appeared on your feed.
- Two of the biggest features that come from both golf and strava is the social aspects. With golf being one of the most sociable sports out there, with the likes of clubhouse interactions and to just simply going out and playing a round with your mates - having the online social interaction like strava does would be a big feature for golfers to get to know and learn more about people from their club.
