Now that i have gathered some good information and ideas from the three portfolios that i looked at before, i will now start to make some brief sketches and after that some digital mockups to help me get closer to the actual designing of my portfolio.
I had a current idea already in my head so i decided to follow along with it with these few sketches below,
Sketch 1
The first idea i had was this, i was thinking of having just a brief landing page with a slight introduction at the top along with some navigation buttons, below i included an ‘About’ section where i will talk about some basic information on myself. I tried out a different lay-out as to what i had seen on all of the portfolios i looked at, i thought about having a short paragraph on the work that i completed and then an image to the right which will then bring you too a separate page on the case study.
Sketch 2
I went a similar direction when i was drawing out the layout for this one, the main two differences that i tried to switch was the navigation bar and the main lay-out of the work section. I think the idea of the nav-bar being in a column and instead of a row is do-able but it just might look a bit different and out of place compared to having it in its normal fashion. I can say that i prefer this lay-out for the work section more than what i did have before hand as it just looks a-lot neater and takes up a-lot less space.
Sketch 3
I didn’t really do too much with this sketch i mainly just laid out the work section again but in a different fashion and i think that i prefer this layout of it over the other two that i drew. I think that it’s a far more easier and complex way for people to be able to view it and it just looks far better overall.
I have now started to make some mockups on figma using some ideas from the layouts that i recently sketched out and also using the colours and typefaces i looked at. Here is the first mockup that i created.
I was quite happy with this overall design, i think it works quite well but i am interested too see what it would also look like if i spread some of the sections into their own pages just to have a less cluttered one page lay-out. So this is what i designed for the other mockup,
