In class this week we spent the majority of the day working on two different tasks which got us to look at different ways in styling some typography and learning about some aspects and details that are involved in certain typefaces.
The first task we were given was to create my own type face anatomy, using a font of my choice and to work on the name that i have chosen for my banking brand which is ‘Sharp Banking’. A typical typeface anatomy would end up looking like this,
and the one that i had completed ended up looking like this,
I was happy with the outcome of this task and i received some good feedback that i included the kerning aspect in the anatomy as-well.
This is a very handy task because you get to learn about all different features that are involved in text and different typefaces.
The second task that we were asked to work on was to redesign some words in a unique way but that the design still stays relevant to the meaning of the word (if that makes sense).
The list of word that we were given was Look, Left, Back, Reflect, Speech, Click, Bounce, Cut. The designs that i came up with were these,
I again was quite happy with how my work turned out in this task, i was particularly happy with how the Back and Reflect turned out by transforming the K in back into its own backspace and having the word reflect look as if it is an actual reflection.
This is again another good task because you get to experiment styles in which you could demonstrate your own brand logo.
