This week i was introduced to user interface principles.

“User Interface (UI) Design focuses on anticipating what users might need to do and ensuring that the interface has elements that are easy to access, understand, and use to facilitate those actions. UI brings together concepts from interaction design visual design, and information architecture.”

Material Design Systems

in class i took a close look at the material design of Google and Apple I done this to be sure that whatever it is that i find myself creating is in line with what current design thinking.

Google

Material Design is a design language developed by Google and is commonly associated with Android apps. An article that i found stated that

“Google maintains Material Design and keeps extensive documentation for how to use and implement it. This kind of support and documentation can be lacking for many modern design systems. Despite all this comprehensiveness and documentation, Material Design remains a fairly flexible design library.”

Apple

Apple primarily uses its own design language called Human Interface Guidelines (HIG) rather than Google's Material Design. Apple's design philosophy emphasises clarity and depth in user interfaces. It encourages the use of familiar elements, such as buttons, icons, and gestures, to create a seamless and enjoyable user experience.

Figma Work

in class i was asked to work on a material card using an music artist, the main reasons was for me to use a new curved frame layout and curved button, everything i had used before, for the colours in the card i took them from the actual screen width picture and worked from there.
