The main topic in class today was Intellectual Property, we discussed about how it is used and alos on how it may affect some designers with their work.
Intellectual property is something you create that’s unique, like an invention, a design, a brand name, or a piece of art. It belongs to you just like any other property, and you have the right to control how it’s used. If you make a new app or write a song, IP laws help protect your work from being copied or used without your permission.
Copyright is a type of legal protection for your original work. When you create something unique, copyright gives you the exclusive right to control how it’s used such as copying, sharing, or selling it. This way, only you (or someone you give permission to) can make money from it or decide how it’s shared. Copyright helps protect creators from others using their work without permission.
Trademark is a logo, word, or design that represents a brand or product and helps people recognise it. They make it easy for people to tell one brand from another and protect the brand’s identity so others can't use similar names or designs to cause confusion.
This was an interesting lecture because i got to learn the importance between all of these different legal protection. Learning these will definetly be helpful in the future if i ever go down the route of creating my own business.
