In Class this week we discussed and looked over Usability Testing
Usability testing is a way to see how easy it is for people to use a product, like a website, app, or a prototype. The goal is to make sure the product is simple, clear, and nice for its intended users. By watching users in control the product, you can discover problems you might not have noticed during the design or development.
You can usability test at different stages of the design and development process. Early testing during the design phase helps issues with layouts, navigation, and overall concept before the time is spent on development. Testing during development ensures features and functionality are user friendly and that they meet the expectations. After the launch, usability testing can be done to gather feedback from real users and make improvements in future updates. Testing throughout the process helps catch problems early, saving time and money while creating a better user experience.
When undergoing an usability test, there are 3 roles which need to be played, these are
Facilitator
A Facilitator guides the test session, by giving instructions and reading out tasks to the participant and asking questions.
Participant
A participant is the person using the product during the test and the one who takes the instructions and tasks from the facilitator.
Observer
The observer is the one watches the session without being aloud to help the participant with no interfering.
Todays class was quite intuitive and i enjoyed learning about the usability testing. It would be a good tool to carry forward in my career and it would help transpire in whatever job role i might land aswell.
